Chats by text for your block, your bus, your carpool
Hey Neighbor is a free chat, by text, for the people you already live among — your block, the school bus, the carpool. Every chat is private and moderated by someone in it, and phone numbers are never public.
It works on any phone, kosher phones included, with no app: plain texting.
Hey Neighbor is new (we're in beta). Every chat is run by a moderator, and nobody joins without an invitation or the moderator's OK.
How to join
Get your chat's number from the person who runs it.
Text HEY to that number. We'll text back asking your name, so just reply with it.
The moderator approves you, and you get a text. You're in.
Got an invitation text? Reply JOIN.
Don't have the number? Text HEY and your chat's exact name to (619) 314-5148.
Free for chats up to 100 people.
Free, with a few labeled local ads.
To keep Hey Neighbor free, some chats include a few short messages from local businesses. They're limited, sent only during daytime hours, and every one is checked and approved by our team before it goes out. Ads never show pictures of people.
